DHC in the spotlight

2016 marked the end of the process that brought the heating sector in general, and district heating and cooling in particular, to the centre of the EU energy policy debate, culminating with the publication of the first ever EU Heating and Cooling Strategy. With DHC’s status as an enabler for the energy transition firmly established, we can approach the next phase of our advocacy work, the negotiation of a  huge package of new legislative proposals with confidence and ambition. Watch to find out more about how our industry is working together to shape the legal environment around district heating in Europe for the coming decades.

Better together

At Euroheat & Power, it’s the people who make the difference! Whether it’s the team in Brussels or the individuals in member organisations around Europe and the world, cooperation between people working together for a common good is the secret to our success. There is something special about the way DHC brings people and organisations together. In 2016 we saw plenty of examples of how concerted action makes us more than the sum of our parts.

Digital dialogue

In 2016, EHP finally got serious about the internet! We rolled out new communication tools meant to highlight the modern and dynamic image of both our organisation and district heating. Our new website helps us reach out to the broader policy and industry community and interact with our members more efficiently. Interest in our social media channels grew significantly. We interact on Twitter with the policy community in Brussels and beyond, and reach out to district heating professionals on LinkedIn, where more in-depth, thoughtful discussions take place about the future of our industry. In an important reminder that the best communication still happens offline, we celebrated the interest and enthusiasm for our sector during two important events: the large district heating conference in Frankfurt in cooperation with our German association, and the first ever District Energy Days in Brussels.

A look ahead

There is plenty of excitement and hard work on the horizon for 2017. Our policy agenda is busier and richer than ever. We’ll also have the opportunity to meet for what should be a really special couple of days at our Congress in Glasgow. Beyond that, we will keep exploring new ways to work for and with our industry, including reaching out to cities and other key stakeholders to help support the development of DHC on or in the ground. It’s going to be a great year. Thanks for being with us!
